Why
Pro-Active PPM :
|
| |
|
The real life in service
organizations is document centric. The project plans, time-sheets,
quality records all originate as documents and have a real need to
exist as documents throughout their useful life. Unfortunately, the
software solutions that exist today model this environment using an
underlying relational data model. It is not difficult to see how this
results in a high levels of information barrier and rigidity requiring
information to be transformed at every point of input and output.
Pro-Active PPM is developed using
Pro</DOC>, very effectively demonstrating how
technology can make a difference to the end-user experience. The XML
based data model means there is no information rigidity associated with
relational applications. The data-model can be extended by the
end-users right at the source, new business rules can be added with
ease. The power of this is further extended by the client and server
side Scripting capability offered by Pro-Active.
Users also want flexibility and freedom on how the information is
viewed and reported. Pro-Active PPM uses OLAP (On-line
analytical Processing) tools to manage all its reporting. The users can
develop their own OLAP cubes (the data view) using a simple User
Interface over the open data-model. If the data-model has been extended
by the users, they have access to it when designing the cubes. In terms
of User experience, this adds significant value because full benefits
of customization are realized.
Consider another instance of a technology enabled feature of Pro-Active
you will not find in conventional solutions - One of the very effective
Quality tools is peer review. Reviews are considered to be highly
cost-effective means of Quality Assurance, for a simple reason that
they prevents the defects from leaking into the following project
stages and hence reduce the overall cost of quality. Important as they
are to the project execution, the typical automation for this activity
is highly inefficient. Almost all product solutions require you to
enter your comments on a data entry screen, which is quite contra to
the way this activity is performed in real life. A more appropriate
mechanism would be to allow the reviewer to enter the comments directly
while viewing the deliverable on-line – the mechanism used by
Pro-Active PPM. Again, this is made possible by the document
annotation tools which are a part of the Pro</DOC>
solution kit.
Here are some of the Pro-Active PPM features you would find useful-
|
| |
| 1. |
Workflow enabled. |
| 2. |
Interface with MS-Project for automatic
import of project plan. |
| 3. |
Fully user configurable time-sheet and
other data-capture forms format. |
| 4. |
Powerful “Text
Annotator” and “MS-Word Annotator” tools
to simplify entering of Review comments. |
| 5. |
User-customizable forms for entering test
defects and other Issues/Queries. |
| 6. |
OLAP tools for powerful analysis of
Quality, Performance and Earned Value at Project level. |
| 7. |
OLAP tools for powerful analysis of
productivity, profitability and utilization and project comparison at
group and organization levels. |
| 8. |
Configurable Dashboard. |
| 9. |
End-user configurable OLAP cubes. |
| 10. |
End-user configurable formats and codes. |
| 11. |
Help Desk and SLA management. |
| 12. |
Knowledge management. |
| 13. |
Flexibility of implementation –
for instance it is not mandatory to
have Project Plans before using the time-sheet module. Users can
implement in a phased manner and develop the business rules and user
constraints as the implementation progresses. |
